The Find Your Eternal Companion Valentines Day Dance

This past Friday I had the opportunity to help plan a Valentines Dance for the ward, and yes, that title up top was exactly what it was called. I did think of it.. thank you. My roommate Amy helped a ton, and let me tell you, planning a dance is a TON of work even for just a small branch!

I thought of this idea on the way home from Edmonton in January, I wanted to plan something big and fun since we don't do activities very often. It's not that nobody wants to have activities, it's just no one really wants to do the work to get there. Things get planned last minute and thrown together and that drives me CRAZY. SO! I figured now that i'm in the relief society presidency, I must have some sort of power to rule over people, right? Me and Amy brainstormed and got it going.

Decorations, food, where, when, music, the list was never ending, but we did it. We decided to invite Regina and plan it carefully so they would be more willing to come. WE figured out places to stay, a big breakfast for the morning so they wouldn't be starving, it was a lot to do!

Well we did it! This past week/weekend has been CRAZY busy but totally worth it! Now I know you Alberta people might chuckle, these numbers will seem small to you, but out here in Saskatchewan, it's HUGE! We had about 20 people from Regina and twenty people from Saskatoon. FORTY people. How many were there at the last dance? Probably 15-20 tops. The Regina crew made a huge difference, and it was so fun getting to meet a different group of people! Especially the boys.. wink wink. The turn out was great, the compliments were never ending on how well put together it was so it felt great! A success!!

We had decorating cookies/making valetnines, a kissing booth, food, dancing, it was awesome!Saturday morning we were exhausted but had to get up early to cook breakfast for everyone. A good crowd showed up and we all enjoyed waffles and sausages together. This dance was a great opporunity despite all the work, the end result was totally worth it. It was a blast and everyone had a good time!
